Perfect Porch Pairings
With the dog days of summer still heavy upon us, my favorite way to end a warm, summer's night is sitting with my husband on our front porch, listening to the thousands of crickets sound their evening mantra, here in the North Carolina foothills. The heat gives way just enough to make star gazing and a glass of sweet tea a late evening necessity. That being said, I've rounded up some of my favorite porch pairings to help inspire your next deck, patio, or veranda update.
Transitional/Monochromatic:
What I love so much about this look is that it can be added to and updated over time and will stay relevant. It's simple, clean, and classic with natural accents. This style was created with the following items...
01. Love Seat: Because having cushioned seating is a must.
02. White Pillows: These pillows look so clean and comfy. Tassels are everything.
03. Side Table: You're going to want something to sit that glass of tea on.
04. Semi-Flush Lighting: I love the retro nod this lighting fixture would give to a sitting area.
06. Bird Feeder: How adorable is this bird feeder? I just want to be Snow White out on my veranda singing with some friends of a feather.
07. Round Rug: I'm crushing hard on some round woven rugs lately. They go with everything, you don't notice wear and tear very easily, and they add some warmth and coziness to any space.
09. House Numbers: If you haven't noticed yet, I'm a sucker for all things black & white. I also love the font on these ceramic numbers.
10. Fringe Pillow: Go ahead, give in to your inner bohemian impulses. I love the neutral blush tones in this pillow.
11. Black & White Pillow: Not going to lie, it's hard to find really cute outdoor pillows sometimes. This one doesn't disappoint, though.
13. Concrete Planter: Loving this concrete planter. Add some fresh mint to garnish thos cocktails that I'm sure you'll be serving up on your freshly updated outdoor sitting area.
Feminine/Mid-Century Modern:
Mid-Century Modern design is making such a come-back, and I'm not even mad about it. I love how it incorporates a relaxed, Palm Beach vibe right alongside the sophistication of art-deco. The blush tones I've incorporated in this add a little feminine touch, & I love the wood accents mixed with pops of color. These furnishings would make any outdoor sitting area so fun!
01. Daybed: I was so excited to find this beautiful daybed. I could definitely see myself lounging on this with a good book or magazine.
02. Yellow Pillow: I'm not a color person. I'll admit it. It's VERY hard for me to commit to colors. But, I love incorporating yellows, especially alongside gold or brass furnishings. And this pillow adds the perfect amount of color to the space.
03. Pink Pillow: It's really hard to find tasteful, outdoor pillows that aren't covered in bright flowers or ugly prints; but Joss & Main carry a really good selection. I love the subtle design of this fabric and all the colors it comes in.
04. Grey Pillow: The fringe on this pillow! It doesn't even look like an outdoor pillow. Big fan over here.
05. Doorbell: YOU GUYS. How adorable is this? I know it's small, but it's such a statement piece that's so retro.
06. Bird House: I found this on Etsy, and it reminds me of the Jetsons. I couldn't resist. Give your birds the mid-century home of their dreams.
07. Light Fixture: I'm obsessed with this light. The Edison bulbs, the gold accenting, the seeded glass, what's not to like?
08. Planters: I've been seeing these everywhere, and I'm definitely on the bandwagon.
09. House Numbers: I really, really, wanted house numbers with a mid-century font but in GOLD. It took a bit of digging; however, I finally came across these, and they're everything!
10. Rug: I love the modern lines and shapes on this rug, along with the subtle color. It accents the rest of the pieces really well.
11. Tiki Torches: How fun are these? They will give your space that relaxed, happy-go-lucky beach feel.
12. Chair: I'm 100% in love with bamboo and rattan furniture. I want it everywhere, and this chair is no exception.
Bohemian/Nomad:
This style evokes your inner world traveler. I think everyone has a little boho-chic gypsy in them just waiting to come out. I love how zen this kind of aesthetic is; however, it's easy to get carried away when decorating this way because of all of the fun, bold prints that are out there. I really enjoy taking a neutral base colors (in this case, white & grey) and then adding prints and colors that make a statement. You can go South-Western, tribal, East-Asian, there's so many options. I think these pieces would make any patio warm, tranquil, and inviting.
01. Daybed: This daybed needs to happen right now. It even has a canopy! I would feel like I was on vacation every time I got to lay on this bad boy.
02. Black Pillow: The print of this pillow is so beautiful, & I love that it's handmade.
03. Macrame Pillow: Macrame, macrame, macrame. Does is get any more boho than this?
04. Wool Pillow: I feel like this wool, handmade pillow would last forever. I love how unique this piece is.
05. Side Table: I'm really loving seeing concrete used so much recently. It's so sturdy and low maintenance but beautiful and modern.
06. Fan: Can't you imagine laying on that daybed with a cool breeze blowing on you from this gorgeous fan? Yes, please.
07. Hanging Planters: Want to make any space feel a little more boho or lived in? Add plants. You get a pop of color instantly, and these planters are geometric and gorgeous.
08. Chair: The cushions in this chair are so beautiful, and I love the tufting.
09. Rug: The color on this rug is really neutral, which allows the space to be played up really nicely with color in other places. Yet, the pattern and fringe give it plenty of interest.
10. Lanterns: Aren't these Moroccan lanterns lovely? Add some candles and make your little patio super romantic.
